During the funeral service

During the church or crematorium service, Jay can lead the chosen hymns or sing them as solos. There is no limit to the number of songs a family can choose for solos or hymns.

Parts of the funeral service where songs are appropriate include
Entrance music (suggestions: Ave Maria / Pie Jesu )
Psalm (suggestion: the Lord is my shepherd)
Music for reflection (suggestion: The Way We Were/ Wind Beneath My Wings)
Offertory and communion (suggestion: Panis Angelicus)
Committal (suggestion: May The Choirs Of Angels)
Exit music (Going Home / Time To Say Goodbye)

Music inside most churches and crematoriums can be accompanied by an organist if preferred. Otherwise they can be performed unaccompanied or to backing tracks.

Some people also choose to have music performed outside the church as the coffin is being placed into the hearse.
Songs that work well for this moment include
Over the Rainbow
Amazing Grace
Footprints in the sand
Nella Fantasia (Gabriel’s Oboe)

Music at the graveside

Songs at the graveside can provide a special atmosphere as the coffin is lowered into the ground, or during some time for reflection afterwards. Songs can performed to high quality backing tracks or sung unaccompanied.

Songs that work well for this moment include
My Way
We’ll Meet Again
Nessun Dorma
Oh, my papa
The Prayer

Music tailored to suit every family

Jay has got an extensive repertoire list and can also prepare any song on request. Churches occasionally have restrictions about non-sacred music being performed, but with the appropriate permission, Jay is happy to perform any song in any style throughout the service. The suggestions are guidelines and Jay will be happy to consult with the family to offer suggestions and discuss options if they need some inspiration.
